Trips & Excursions

Ugar Mahila Mandal has always organized trips to various places as part of welfare activity for all its members which mostly comprises wives of officers and workers and also a few local ladies as well.

Trips tend to promote social interactions and that is really needed to promote harmony in the Institution and the Society as well. Formerly there used to be a trip (walking) to a nearby farm and then a one-day excursion to a near by place or Temple for that matter. Later on, on public demand, apart from 1-day excursions trips are organized for a duration of 2 -3 days to see and visit different places. The first are being to ‘Ashta – Vinayaka’ in 1970 with a bare expenses of Rs.100/- for 4 days. Later on a trip of 5 days duration was to Tirupati, Bangalore, Mysore, Halebid – Belur, Sharavanbelgol and it comprised nearby 60 members. Even seemed to have enjoyed this trip thoroughly - the cost being only Rs.500/- per person.

And now of course all the ladies having developed a best for travel. They love to indulge in trips to distant places. And they also want to experience ‘Air – Travel’ which is everybody’s dream so-to-say. And therefore the first feel of ‘Air – Travel’ was a trip to Bangalore which involved a Flight to Goa. All of the ladies had not seen the ‘Sea’ and therefore a ‘Sea-bath’ was like a great treat for them. Their faces were literally lit up with joy with this fantastic experience. ‘Flying in the Air and dipping in the sea.

Later on Air-trips are organized to ‘Delhi - Rajasthan’ and also to Indore and Madhya Pradesh. A five day trip to Aurangabad covering Ajanta Ellora and honor was indeed an experience worth satisfying. Also our last trip to Puducherry, Golden Temple of Vellore Kanchi and Chennai was worth remembering. The most enjoyable part was ‘meeting’ Kiran Bedi at Raj Bhavan and a trip of Raj Bhavan itself which was quite an experience. This year Ugar Mahila Mandal having completed 75 years a ‘Trip’ to the Paradise on Earth byAir is the dream of its members. And so we propose to organize a Trip to Kashmir in July.

It is nice to watch the inter-actions among all these members during an excursion and it really makes you feel ‘good’ and return home with splendid memories of places and persons as well. In this way Ugar Mahila Mandal tries to give maximum to its members, so that they too get a feel of the world outside.

“According to Ramdas Swami – ‘Travel educates you and teaches you lessons of life. One who does not travel tends to stagnate but one who leaves his place to see the world outside tends to get educated in the true sense of the word”
